History

Monestir Sant TomāsThe Association was founded in 1996 by a group of seven families with children with disabilities, members of locak society and some council's representatives. We began the activity the following the year with the bringing into operation/service of the Estel school, with only 9 students. Today we are counting on more than 2,000 protective partners, we assist more than 1450 people and among the staff of more than 650 workers, more than 243 have some type of disabilities.

We receive the name of the old monastery where we set up in 1974, acquired with the collected funds through a local campaign where more than 1,000 people took part.

Our roots in the county of Osona together with the commitment, the dedication and the effort of a wide team of professionals have allowed us to be able to grow the number of services until succeeding in meeting the needs of the people with intellectual disabilities from their early childhood to advanced ages. The entity currently manages the centre of early attention Tris Tras, the Estel School (centre of therapeutic pedagogy), the working service  Eina, the  Special Work Centre and Occupational Centre Tac-Osona, the housing service Clarella, the  Centre Riudeperes for people with needs of generalized attention, the leisure and sports centre Club CAR and the breathing space service Respir for the families.
